While assistance programs exist, many families struggle to secure housing due to limited landlord participation, complex application processes, and a lack of guidance throughout the search. As a result, vouchers often go underutilized - not because families do not qualify, but because they cannot successfully navigate the system alone.

About the Founder
About the Founder
Tanaka Smith is the Founder and Housing Access Specialist of the Houston Housing Access & Education Program. She works extensively with housing choice voucher families in the Houston area and surrounding cities, helping them navigate the rental process, connect with participating landlords, and secure stable housing.
Through years of hands-on-experience, she has developed a deep understanding of the challenges families face when using housing vouchers. Tanaka created this program to remove barries, increase housing access, and support long-term housing stability for individuals and familes across the Greater Houston area. Her mission is to make housing access more achievable, efficient, and successful for every family she services.
